Friday, December 28, 2018
(WRDW/WAGT) -- Sandoz Inc., is recalling one lot of Losartan Potassium Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets, used to treat hypertension, or high blood pressure.
The FDA recall claims there is a "trace amount of impurity" in the drug. That "impurity" is a human carcinogen according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
That means the issue with the drug has the chance of causing cancer in those who take it.
The recall is active for Losartan Potassium Hydrochlorothiazide, 100 mg/25 mg tablets in 1000-count plastic bottles, NDC 0781-5207-10. The lot number is JB8912 and the expiration date is June 2020.
